Lotus in the flame school of yoga

Down Dog Yoga Center is proud to host Lotus in the Flame's 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training under the direction of Melissa Spamer (M.A, E-RYT500, C.Ay, LMT), whose course provides the highest level of creative and progressive Yoga education in the field today.  The intention of this 200 hour program is not to teach one particular "style" of Yoga, but to set each person on a path of embodying Yoga and living it daily.  As many teacher trainings focus primarily on asana, this program additionally teaches a full spectrum of traditional HaTha Yoga practices, integrating the philosophies of the main paths of Yoga, the Heart of Yoga - Bhakti, Raja, Karm, Jnana, and Tantra.  We will study traditional texts and ground these philosophies within the physical and energetic body as they are expressed within the eight limbs of Yoga as outlined by Sri Patanjali.  This is a comprehensive program giving students a very practical yet diverse exposure to the history, lineages, and modern developments within the world of Yoga today.

The format is structured in a way that provides flexibility for students who are working professionals and cannot take a month or more off to study yoga intensively.  The training consists of four 5 day immersions that run from 8am-5pm each day with a one hour lunch break.  There will also be two weekend immersions that run Friday evening from 6-9pm, Saturday from 1-5pm, and Sunday from 1-4pm.  During the time between training modules you will have your own personal sadhana practice, as well as structured assignments to fulfill your non-contact and practicum hours necessary for certification.  In this way, the art and practice of living yoga in your everyday life becomes more integrated.  Each of the four modules has a different focus and intention.  This program runs from June - December of 2017 and is now accepting applications (see details below).
